Check out Tiffany doubling up as a Single Emcee in the Duo Combo Deal.
Check out Daniel & Xin Ying doubling up as Duo Emcees in the Duo Premium Deal.

If not, you can always take our standalone Single Emcee Service separately from Live Band.
Check out Kirbie in her Single Emcee Showreel.

Q2: Does your Live Band accept dedications?

A: Yes! We love singing for your guests’ dedications and will do our best to cater!

Q3: Can we select our own songs ?

A: Definitely yes! We will send you a pre-list of well-received and popular songs for review. You can then change and insert your own favorites and leave the rest to us!

Q4: Can you guys sing our March-In songs ?

A: Yes, we can!

Q5: How much do you charge ? And why aren’t the prices found in this website ?

A: We do have Promotion Packages with NETT Pricing listed under the Promotions Page.
As for Standard Rates of all Live Band and Emcee combis, we will inform you through email/phone correspondences. Our rates are attractive and our packages give you the flexibility to choose a suitable one that matches your budget. They are not published due to competition.

Q6: What is a “Set” ? And how long is 1 Set?

A: A Set is our band’s performance duration of 45mins.
Commonly, for weddings, we are engaged for 2 Sets:
– 1st Set of 45mins starts after 1st March-In when 1st Dish is served.
– 2nd Set of 45mins starts after 2nd March-In when Table-to-Table Photo-taking commences.
Each Set has a maximum of 12 songs.

Q7: Does your band provide sound system as well?

A: Yes, we do. Check it out here.
They are packaged into our Live Band Packages & Promotions and are compulsory to ensure our Service & Sound Quality for your big day.
We Do NOT use venue Sound Systems due to the following reasons:
– Many Hotels do not allow Live Band to use theirs.
– Hotel Sound Systems are normally PA systems good for speech and not suitable for Live Band use.
– In worst scenarios we experienced, some venue’s PA systems will easily overload and cut off the system power when there are too many inputs (which is common for Live Band).
– Hotel AV Crews are not trained to handle and monitor Live Band Sounds, which will affect our performance.

Q8: Does your band bring your own instruments?

A: Yes, we do!
Smaller Instruments like Guitars are personal instruments brought by respective musicians.
Bigger ones like Keyboards are included as part of our In-House Sound System & Live Band Equipment Rental, included in Live Band Packages.

Q9: What logistics do you guys need from the performing venue?

A: Since our Live Band packages already includes In-House Sound System & Equipment Rental, we only need Power Source Outlets and a Stage Space for our Live Band.

For Emcees, Venue must provide at least Podium Mics and/or Wireless Mics.

Q10: What kind of songs do Music Box play?

A: We play a wide genre of repertoire ranging from Pop, Sentimental, Rock, Bossanova and of different languages including English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, Japanese & Korean.

Our repertoire grows with you!

5 Reasons Why A Wedding Live Band can be as COSTLY as Your Bridal Package

1) Musicianship

keyboard

All Musicians & Vocalists worthy of taking your stage are performing on Professional Levels and went through years of training, numerous experiences on stage and are constantly renewing their repertoire and skillsets to sing and play for you. They are no different from the Cameraman, Videographer, Banquet Manager, Makeup Artist, Gown Designer and even the Wedding Planner you hire, and has to be paid a reasonable amount too.

2) Sound System & Band Equipment Rental

yamaha

As per what we mentioned in the last article blog post 5 Reasons For NOT Using Venue PA System for your Wedding Live Band, a Professional Live Band can never settle for sub-standard PA Systems & incomplete equipment belonging to Venue, because those are usually never meant to be used for Live Band purposes.

Equipment & Sound Systems for Live Band are sophisticated, specialised and expensive, and usually form up a significant portion of the price of Wedding Live Band Packages. If a Live Band has their own In-House Set to bundle into their package for you, trust them, for they want to bring out the BEST sound for you!

3) The Soundman On Standby

mixer

If your Live Band Vendor quote you a Wedding Live Band with NO Soundman on Standby throughout your Wedding, get mentally prepared for sub-standard sound, equipment hiccups or a very uncomfortable and insecure Live Band.

Why? Because a Soundman is the BACKBONE of a Live Band! He is there throughout the banquet performances to tune the sound in case its too soft (especially when guests chatting multiplies by 25 tables) or setting the EQ/ Volume of the Sound for soft and heavy songs. A Professional Soundman can be paid up to as much as $250 per job and thus forms a significant portion of your Wedding Live Band cost too.

4) Transport

Transport of Sound System & Band Equipment also forms a significant part of your package. We have to pay someone for the transport and moving of heavy load.

5) Admin

CSO

Admin costs means cost of the middle-person who coordinates the sales of service, checking and confirmation of availability of talents, song list, transport and also site visits and meeting with couples to ensure everything is in order. The Band usually concentrate on performing only so that they do not have to worry and be concern on non-performing matters. This will then bring out their best for your big day!

So, now you know that a Wedding Live Band is not just about taking a guitar, a mic, and just simply singing on stage. There are so many things going on behind the scene and so many important individuals coordinating to give you a professional and decent Live Band you and your guests can enjoy.

5 Reasons For NOT Using Venue PA System for Your Wedding Live Band

yamaha

1) Usually, Venues (Hotels/ Restaurants) do not allow it.

2) Even if they allow, they are simply PA Systems (Stands for: Public Address Systems) which are good for only Speech & Background Music.
A Live Band needs a much more Powerful & Sophisticated Sound System to ensure that the quality of the Band’s performance is not compromised!
A Live Band needs Music Score Stands, Boomed Microphone Stands, DI Boxes, Monitor Speakers to hear themselves, Keyboard, Keyboard Stands, Guitar Stands, Vocal Standard Microphones (not KTV mics!) etc which Hotel or Restaurants do not have!

3) They do not have a trained Soundman who can properly Sound Test for the Live Band and monitor the sound throughout the banquet for you! Without a properly trained Soundman to handle your Live Band, your guests will be suffering throughout the banquet with badly handled sound.

4) Since Venue PA Systems are NOT meant to be used for Live Band, their specifications are under-par and if the Live Band’s instruments or mics overwhelmed Venue’s PA System and damage it, who will be responsible for it?

5) Your Live Band will not be able to perform and sing properly due to lack of equipment, bad sound and your whole live music ambience for your Banquet that you have been so looking forward to, will be ruined!

Yes, we understand that Wedding can be an expensive event and we know that many couples wish to get services & packages which are valued for money and to Save for more important aspects of the wedding.

Well, I can tell you that if you wish to engage a Good Wedding Live Band, it is a MUST to ensure that your Live Band gets a Good Set of Sound System suitable for Live Music & Singing!

That is why most Wedding Live Bands like us owns at least a set of In-House Sound Systems & Equipment to compliment all our Live Band packages.

Some Wedding Live Band Vendors do not care and simply make do with whatever sound systems (including venue’s) that the couple can source for them. They just sing with whatever quality and equipment they are provided on site, collect your money and go home.

But We CARE! We want to enjoy singing to your guests, we want to be a PART of your special day and ensure that your guests enjoy our music and be entertained!

Thus, Music Box provide In-House Sound System & Equipment Rental for all our Live Band Packages to ensure Great Quality Sound and Zero Hassle & Worry for you!
